Jkb Elaichi Powder is run out of No 101, Dwaraka on Patel Road in Perambur. It’s a familiar spot for anyone who lives around here. The building isn't anything special to look at, but it’s where all the magic happens with the spices. You can usually smell the cardamom from down the street before you even see our sign. It’s a strong scent that sticks to your clothes, but we’ve all gotten used to it by now. The workspace is simple. We have the grinding area and then the place where we pack everything into bags. We don't have a big marketing team or anything like that. Most of our customers found out about us just by walking past or hearing from a neighbor. We spend our days making sure the machines are running right and that the powder is coming out the way it should. It’s a dusty job, and we usually end the day covered in a fine layer of green spice. Patel Road gets pretty busy with traffic, so we have to be careful when we’re moving the bags out to the delivery vans. We’ve been doing this for a while and have a rhythm to it. It’s not a complicated life, just honest work in a local neighborhood. We like the fact that people know us and trust what we’re putting in those packets.
