Jayalakshmi Modern Rice Mill

We've been over here on Rice Mill Road in Vadakarai for quite some time now. People usually find us easily because the address is No : 232, and the street name kind of gives away what we do. Redhills is where we operate from. It gets busy here during the harvest seasons. The machinery keeps humming most of the day. We focus on getting the rice processed and ready for the market without making a big fuss about it. The mill has been part of the local landscape for years. We handle different types of grains depending on what the farmers bring in. It's dusty work, but someone has to do it. Our family runs the place and we mostly know everyone who stops by. We don't have a fancy office or anything like that. Just the main shed where the machines are and a small space for paperwork. Most days are long, starting early in the morning before the sun gets too hot. We just try to keep the equipment running smooth so there aren't many delays. If you're coming down Vadakarai, you'll see the gate. It’s a straightforward operation here. Nothing too complicated about how we run things. We just do the work, pack it up, and move to the next batch. Sometimes the power goes out, which is a pain, but we manage. That's just how life is at the mill.
