I. A. Intercontinental

Casa Major Road in Egmore is a busy stretch, and we are right at number 20. Working at I. A. Intercontinental means dealing with a lot of paperwork and phone calls throughout the day. The building is an older one, like many in this part of Chennai, and it has those thick walls that keep the noise of the traffic down a little bit. We have a few desks squeezed into the main room, and there are always files stacked up high. It’s not the most organized looking place, but we have our own system that works for us. The heat in Chennai can be pretty intense, so the first thing we do is get the fans moving. We spend a lot of time coordinating things over the phone, mostly dealing with shipments and logistics. It's a lot of sitting and typing, then a lot of rushing around when something needs to be delivered or picked up. There are plenty of places nearby to grab a quick coffee, which is a big part of our day. The street outside is always jammed with cars and people heading towards the station or the museum. We don't really have a big fancy sign out front, just the name and the address on the door. It is a bit cramped inside with all the records we keep, but we’ve managed in this spot for quite a while now.
