Gulabs

Gulabs is located at Door No.20/16 on Vijaylaxmi Street in the Mahalingapuram area of Nungambakkam. It’s a typical Chennai street, fairly narrow and always with something going on. Our building is a modest one, and we’ve been using it for our food business for a good while now. Inside, the space is divided into different sections for preparing our items and storing the ingredients. We don't have a big fancy office with carpets or a receptionist. You’re more likely to find someone in a hairnet or an apron than in a suit here. The air is often thick with the smell of the syrups and snacks we make. It’s a very busy environment, especially during the festive seasons when we have more orders than we can handle easily. The furniture is all basic and mostly for work rather than comfort. We have a small staff and we all know each other well, so the work gets done with a lot of talking and local news. The afternoon heat can be tough, especially when the stoves are going, but we just manage with the ceiling fans. We don't spend a lot of time on branding or big advertising. Most of our day is spent in the kitchen area or checking the packaging to make sure everything is sealed right. It’s a simple, honest way to work in a busy neighborhood.
