Green Mart Super Market

We opened Green Mart Super Market here on Rajiv Gandhi Salai in Sholinganallur because this part of the road gets so busy with people coming home from work. It is just a regular shop, nothing too fancy. We spend most of our mornings unpacking crates of vegetables and making sure the milk packets are cold. Sometimes the delivery truck comes late and we have to scramble to get everything on the shelves before the first customers walk in. It gets pretty hot in the afternoons but we stay open. Most people who live nearby know us by now. They come in for bread or maybe some soap they forgot to buy earlier in the week. We try to keep things tidy but when it’s crowded it can get a bit messy with baskets left around. Sholinganallur has changed a lot since we started here. There are more buildings now and more cars on the road outside our door at 86. We don't have a big team, just a few of us who handle the billing and help people find where the lentils are kept. We don't really do big advertisements or anything like that. People just see the sign and stop by while they are heading somewhere else. It is a lot of standing around and talking to neighbors. We just focus on keeping the basics in stock so nobody has to go too far for their groceries. That is pretty much how things go every day for us.
