Gowri R

This is Gowri. I am based at Doshi Gardens on Arcot Road, specifically in unit A23. It’s a very busy part of Chennai and there is always something going on outside. I’ve been here for a while now. My workspace isn't very big, but it’s enough for what I need to do. I have a bunch of plants by the window that seem to thrive in the heat, even when I forget to water them for a day or two. I started this because I wanted the freedom of working for myself. It was pretty tough at the beginning because I had to figure out everything by trial and error. I don’t have a big staff to help me. It is mostly just me and sometimes a part-time assistant when things get really hectic. Arcot Road is always full of the sound of bus horns and people shouting. You eventually just stop hearing it. I keep my door open most of the time so the air can circulate. People sometimes drop in without an appointment. It’s fine with me because I like the company. I don’t use those big, fancy words that you see in business brochures. I just say what I mean in plain English. My desk usually has stacks of folders on it, but I have my own system for finding things. It might look like chaos, but I know exactly where the important stuff is. I just keep moving forward one day at a time.
