Our office at Energy Alternatives India is at A5C in the Anugraha Apartments. Being located at No 41 on Nungambakkam High Road means we are right in the thick of things in Chennai. The traffic outside is almost always at a standstill and the horns never really stop. Because we are in an apartment building it feels a lot more like a home than a regular office. We have a small kitchen where we make our own coffee and the rooms have been turned into workspaces. It’s a bit cramped with all the files and equipment we have stored here but we make it work. Most of us have been working in the energy field for a long time so we don't need a lot of direction. We just get on with our tasks. There’s no big sign outside or a lobby with a receptionist. You just come up to the apartment and ring the bell. It’s a very informal way of doing business but our clients don't seem to mind. We spend a lot of our day talking to people on the phone or working on plans for different projects. The view from the window is mostly just more buildings and the tops of cars on the high road. It’s a practical space for a practical team. We don't have any interest in being a big corporate entity. We just like doing our work here in Nungambakkam and going home at the end of the day.
