Easwari Stores

Kodambakkam is a place that never really stays quiet, and our little corner on 6th Cross Street is no different. Easwari Stores sits right in Trustpuram, tucked away from the main road traffic but still busy enough with people walking by. The shop is small, and we’ve squeezed in as much as we possibly could. If you look up, there are bags hanging from hooks, and the lower shelves are packed with heavy stuff like sacks of flour and sugar. We’ve got this one light bulb in the back that flickers sometimes, but it does the job. Most people come here because they forgot one or two things for their dinner, or they need a refill of milk in the morning. We know the neighbors pretty well since we see them every single day. It’s not the kind of place where you’d find luxury goods, just the honest things people actually use. The billing counter is a bit old, and the wood is worn down where people rest their bags. We don’t really do much talking unless someone asks where the tamarind is kept. It’s just a regular daily routine of opening the shutters, dusting the jars, and checking what we need to order for next week. Sometimes the street gets flooded when it rains hard in Chennai, but we just put some planks down and stay open. That’s just life in this part of town for us.
