Tondiarpet is an older part of the city, and Kummalamman Koil Street has a lot of its own local character. Our engineering shop is at 122D/38. It is not the simplest place to find if you aren't already familiar with these narrow streets. We have been doing this kind of engineering work for a very long time. It is a noisy and busy place for most of the day. We have several old lathes and milling machines that have definitely seen a lot of action over the decades. The floor is usually covered in metal shavings, and there is always that distinct smell of machine oil hanging in the air. We don't have a separate office room; the main desk is right out there near the machines so we can see what is happening. People come in with broken parts or rough drawings of things they need us to manufacture. We do what we can to get them finished on time, though it can take a while if we are waiting for specific materials to arrive. The street outside is quite narrow, so getting any large deliveries in or out can be a real struggle with all the bikes and handcarts in the way. Most of the men working here live in the neighborhood and have been with us for years. We don't have any fancy marketing or a website, just the shop and our sign. It is just the kind of work we do here.
