Inside, the aisles are quite narrow because we try to fit as many products as possible. We have everything from toiletries to cooking oils. The floor is old and has some cracks, but it stays clean enough. There is a lot of noise coming from the street outside because of the honking and people walking by. I spend most of my time at the billing counter. It is a small space and I often bump my elbows on the shelves behind me. We use old plastic crates to hold the vegetables near the front door. Sometimes the fans don't do much to stop the heat, especially when the shop is full of people. We don't have any fancy uniforms or anything corporate. We just wear our regular clothes and help people find what they need. People in Kannammapet are always in a rush, so we try to move as fast as we can at the counter. When the day is over, my legs usually ache from standing so much. But that is just how it is when you run a shop in a place like T Nagar. We close up late and then head home.
