Our office is located on the first floor of Gokulam Illam, which is at Number 1/306 B on Kalathumedu Street. This is in the Kottivakkam area of Chennai. It is a residential-feeling neighborhood, which is nice because it is not as loud as the middle of the city. We have been operating out of this floor for some time now. The stairs leading up are a bit narrow, and we often have to remind people to watch their step when they visit. Inside, it is mostly just a collection of computers and desks. It is a typical Chennai workspace—we keep the fans spinning all day and try to stay productive even when the humidity is very high. We are not a giant corporation with a big cafeteria; we usually just bring our lunch from home in tiffin boxes or go to the small vegetarian shop around the corner. The people working here have been together for a while, so we know each other's habits and how we like our tea. We deal with whatever technical work comes our way without making a big fuss about it. There is no fancy lobby with a receptionist, just a door that stays open during the day to let the breeze in. We focus on the tasks at hand and try to get out of the office before the evening traffic on the East Coast Road gets too crazy. It is a simple, honest setup.
