Being on Perambur Barracks Road means it is always noisy outside. We are located at Old No. 40, which is now New No. 83, right in the middle of Purasawalkam. This area has so much history and the traffic never seems to stop. We’ve been handling stone here for a long time. It is a family thing, mostly. You can see the slabs lined up against the walls when you walk in. Some are dark, some are light, and they all come from different places. We spend a lot of time talking to people who walk in off the street. They want to know if a piece is strong enough or if the color will look right in their bathroom. We don’t have a big sales team; it is just us showing what we have in stock. The air is often thick with the smell of wet stone because we use water when we are cutting. It gets a bit cramped sometimes because of how much material we try to keep on hand. Purasawalkam is a crowded spot, so getting the big trucks in to unload the new slabs is always a bit of a headache. We have to time it just right so we don't block the whole road. Every day is pretty much the same: unloading, measuring, and helping folks pick out what they need for their renovations. It’s honest work and it keeps us busy from morning until the sun goes down.
