Best Dhall Mill

At Best Dhall Mill, we spend most of our time down on T.H. Road. Our spot is at 782/2 in Kandher Peth, and if you come by, you’ll definitely hear the machines humming before you see the door. It gets quite dusty inside with all the lentils being processed, so we’re always sweeping up. The air smells like raw grain and earth. We’ve been at this for a long time now. It’s hard work, mostly standing on your feet and watching the sifters to make sure everything is coming out right. We don't have a big office or anything, just the milling floor and a small corner for the books. T.H. Road is always crowded with trucks and carts, which makes getting deliveries in a bit of a headache sometimes. You learn to work around the traffic. We deal with all sorts of pulses, bag them up, and stack them in the back. Sometimes the machinery acts up and we have to spend half the afternoon with a wrench in hand, covered in grease. That’s just part of the life here. We don’t do much advertising; people just know we’re here in the Peth. The sun hits the front of the shop pretty hard in the afternoon, so we usually keep the shutters halfway down to stay cool. It’s just a regular mill, nothing special, just us doing the daily work of keeping the stock moving. We have a few regulars who have been coming to us for years.
