A.V.Thomas Group Companies

Getting out to the Special Economic Zone in Tambaram is a bit of a trip every morning. We’re located in Sdf Phase III, at units 123 and 4. It’s a massive area, and sometimes it feels a bit like a maze with all the different phases and buildings looking the same. At A.V.Thomas Group Companies, our space is quite large because we handle a lot of different things at once. It’s a bit more organized than a street-side shop, but it still has that feeling of a place where people are actually working. You have to go through security at the Mpez gate, which can be a pain if the line is long. Once you’re inside, it’s a lot of walking down long corridors. We have big windows that look out over the zone, but we’re usually too busy to look out of them. The phones are always ringing, and there’s a constant stream of emails to answer. Even though it’s a big company setup, we still have our little routines, like the group of us that eats lunch together in the canteen. It’s a bit disconnected from the main city, but there’s a sense of community among the people who work here in the zone. We keep things moving as best we can, dealing with the logistics of being in such a regulated place. It takes some getting used to the scale of everything.
