Ashraf Bag Works

We run our bag workshop at No 77 on the 19th Main Road in KS Nagar. It’s a straightforward shop where we spend our time cutting fabric and stitching things together. You can hear the sound of the sewing machines from the street if the door is open. We have rolls of material stacked up in the corners and different kinds of zippers and buckles in small bins on the tables. It’s not a showroom, just a place where the work happens. The main road is usually busy, so there’s always a bit of dust coming in, and we have to keep the materials covered. We make all sorts of bags, mostly focusing on whatever people in the area need for their daily use. Sometimes someone brings in a favorite bag with a broken strap, and we see if we can fix it. The lighting isn't the best in the back, but we have individual lamps over the machines. It’s a small team here, just a few of us working side by side. We don't have a big sign or a fancy office setup. Most people find us because they live nearby or saw us while walking to the store. We just focus on the stitching and making sure the handles are strong enough for whatever they carry. It’s what we do every day without much fuss or noise.
