Anantha Store

Our shop, Anantha Store, is located at No 2/4 on Dharmaraja Koil Street in Karanodai. It’s a quiet enough area compared to the main city, but we stay busy enough in Mathur. The store is basically where we live out our days. We open up and start by checking the stock of pulses, rice, and oils. It’s a lot of heavy lifting, moving sacks around to make space. The building itself is an older one, so it has that familiar smell of grain and spices. We don't have any staff to speak of, just family members helping out. People come in for their weekly groceries or just a single packet of salt. The street is narrow, and you can hear the bells from the temple nearby. We’ve been here at this Chennai address for quite some time now. Some days are slow and we just sit and watch the rain or the people passing by. Other days, everyone comes at once and it gets a bit chaotic behind the counter. We don't do any big promotions or anything. People know we are here and they come when they need something. It’s honest work, even if it’s tiring for the back and the legs. We just keep the shelves as full as we can and try to keep everything organized in our own way. It is a simple life and we are happy to be a part of this community. We close up when the street gets quiet and head home.
