Jupiter Surface Coating

Down in Mogappair West, at No. 582 in the 6th Block, you’ll find our workshop. Jupiter Surface Coating is where we spend most of our hours. The air usually has that sharp smell of chemicals and fresh paint. We have big fans going to keep the air moving, but you still feel it on your skin by the end of the shift. The 6th Block is a decent area, mostly residential nearby, so we try not to be too loud early in the morning. We have different sections for cleaning and then for the actual coating. Things have to be very clean before we start or the finish won’t stick right. We spend a lot of time checking for dust. Our workbench is scarred from years of use and there are drips of different colors dried all over it. It’s not a showroom. It’s a place where we wear overalls and get our hands messy. Sometimes the humidity in Mogappair makes the drying take longer than we want. We just have to wait it out and drink some water. There are a lot of racks for hanging parts while they dry. It can get pretty cramped when we have a lot of work in. We’ve got a small calendar on the wall where we mark off the days. It’s just us here, doing the coatings and making sure things are done okay. Nothing too complicated about it, just a lot of spray and dry time.
