Ambassador Pallava

Our building is at 30 Montieth Road right in the middle of Egmore. If you know Chennai, you know how busy this street gets with all the shops and people walking by. We have been sitting here for years, watching the city change while we stay mostly the same. The lobby has those big pillars and it feels a bit like stepping back in time when you walk in from the heat outside. We spend most of our day answering phones and checking the books to see who is arriving. The rooms are old-fashioned but they do the job for people visiting the city for work or family stuff. Our staff has been here a long time, some of us for decades, so we know every corner of the place. It gets quite humid in the afternoons, and we are always making sure the fans and air conditioning are running right. There is a lot of history in these walls, though we don't make a big deal about it. It’s just where we work. We see a lot of people coming from the railway station nearby because it is a short trip. Sometimes the traffic on Montieth Road makes it hard to turn into the gate, but that is just how it is in this part of town. We just keep things moving and make sure the tea is hot for whoever wants it.
