Asiana Hotel-Chennai

I have been working at the Asiana Hotel-Chennai for a good while now. We are tucked away at 1/34 New Mosque Street in Covelong. If you know the area, you know it gets quite busy around the prayer times. The street is narrow and the building is easy to miss if you aren't looking closely for the number. We have a lot of rooms to keep track of and the humidity here in Tamil Nadu really does a number on the paint and the tiled floors. Every morning, the staff starts by trying to get the dust out before it gets too hot for any real work. It’s a lot of effort just to keep things tidy. We mostly just deal with folks coming in and out, checking their heavy bags, and making sure the water is running right in the bathrooms. Sometimes the internet acts up because of the salt air or the weather, but we just wait it out. My desk is near the front door, so I see everyone who walks in. It’s not a huge fancy place with shiny glass walls, but it’s where we are. We have a few regulars who stay when they are passing through the Kanchi District on business. The neighborhood is mostly quiet at night, which is good for the guests who want to sleep. We spend a lot of time on the phone or just fixing small things that break. It’s just the daily routine of keeping things going.
