V K Kapoor

Our place is right in the Main Market of Sector 22, at number 743. If you know the market, you know it is one of the busiest spots you can find. I am V K Kapoor, and I have spent more years here than I can count. The shop is always buzzing because the Main Market never really sleeps. We have people coming in and out all day long, and you get to see all sorts of characters. It’s a small space, but we make it work by staying organized. My father taught me the ropes, and I’ve just stuck with it. We don't have any flashy lights or big advertisements. Most people find us because they were told about us by a friend or they just happened to be walking by and needed something. It gets really hot in the summer, especially with the crowds, but we have a good fan that keeps us going. I like the noise of the market; it makes the day go by faster. We handle our business face-to-face, which I think is better than just sending emails back and forth. You get a better sense of people that way. Sometimes we close up a bit late if someone needs help, but we don’t mind. It’s just part of being in Sector 22. It’s a busy life, but it’s a good one that keeps us connected to the neighborhood.
