Sparkle

We are located at Mahavir Park 382 in Mohali. Our shop is called Sparkle, and we mostly handle all kinds of clothes. People bring in their heavy blankets, formal suits, and daily wear for us to clean and iron properly. The steam from the heavy irons makes the place a bit humid, especially during the hot afternoons. We have rows of hangers with finished clothes waiting to be picked up by their owners. It’s a lot of folding, tagging, and sorting through piles. We use these big industrial machines that make a lot of noise when they’re spinning on the wash cycle. Sometimes the small paper tags fall off, and we have to use our memory to remember whose shirt belongs to whom. We usually manage to get it right. It’s not a very big shop, so we have to stay organized or things get lost. Most of our customers live in the surrounding houses and blocks. They drop off their laundry on the way to work and pick it up a few days later when they have time. We don’t have a fancy delivery truck or anything. People just come by on their scooters or walk over. The smell of detergent and soap is everywhere in here. It’s a bit repetitive, but there’s a certain satisfaction in seeing a pile of dirty clothes become neat and pressed. We try to be careful with the delicate fabrics like silk. If a button is loose, we sometimes stitch it back on without even mentioning it. It’s just how we do things here.
