Manimajra is a crowded spot, and our place at 213 is right in the thick of it. We spend most of our mornings unloading goods from the tempo drivers who show up early. There isn't much room to move around once the sacks and boxes start piling up on the floor. It is a lot of lifting and moving stuff from one corner to another. We usually have the radio playing in the background while we work. The walls could probably use a new coat of paint, but we never seem to find the time to get around to it. Most of our customers are locals or other shopkeepers who know exactly what they are looking for. We don't spend much time on talk; we just get the items weighed and packed. It gets pretty busy around noon, and sometimes the lane outside gets blocked by a truck, which causes a bit of a headache with the neighbors. We’ve been at this spot for a long time, so we know the routine well. The floor is concrete and stays cool even when it's hot outside. We just keep our heads down and get the work done. By the time evening rolls around, we are usually quite tired and ready to lock up. We keep a jug of water by the door for anyone who needs it. It's just a regular trading business and we stay busy with the paperwork in the afternoons.
