Our workshop is at Plot Number-319 in the Phase 1 Industrial Area of Panchkula. It’s a wide-open spot compared to the city. The building is a basic industrial structure with a big metal door that we roll up every morning at eight. It gets quite noisy in this area because of all the other factories and units nearby. You can hear the sounds of metal cutting and trucks reversing all day long. We handle a variety of chemicals here, so there are always drums being moved around by the forklift. The floor is concrete and has a few stains that we can’t seem to get out, no matter how much we scrub. We have a small partitioned area that serves as the office where the bills and the phone are kept. It’s a bit dusty because of the industrial setting, but we try to keep the paperwork clean. The weather in Panchkula can be quite extreme, so the shed gets really hot in May and quite chilly in January. We’ve got a small tea stall just down the road where we go for breaks. Most of our day is spent checking the seals on containers and making sure the labels are stuck on right. It’s basic work, but it takes up the whole day. We know most of the guys on this street and we look out for each other.
