Mobile Zone

Finding us at Mobile Zone can be a little tricky if you don't know Manimajra well. We’re over on 9th Cross, right in Sampangiram Nagar on Nanjappa Road at number 434. It’s a busy corner of the world. The shop is small and the lighting is a bit bright because we need to see the tiny parts we work with. There’s always a pile of screens and tools on the workbench. Sometimes I lose a screw and have to spend ten minutes looking for it on the floor with a flashlight. Customers come in with all sorts of problems, usually stressed out because they can't get their phones to turn on. We listen to the radio most of the day, just whatever station is playing the old hits. Nanjappa Road is always noisy with the buses, so we keep the door shut most of the time to keep the dust out. The chair at the front has a squeak that I keep meaning to fix but never get around to. It’s just me and one other guy here most days. We drink a lot of coffee from the machine down the block. By the time evening rolls around, my eyes are usually a bit tired from looking at small things. We pack everything up, lock the three locks on the door, and head out to beat the traffic.
