Mittal Bartan Store

Mittal Bartan Store is over on Veera Pillai Street in Mohali at SCF-105. If you walk down the street, you can usually hear our shop before you see it because of the clinking sound of stainless steel pots and pans. We have stacks of plates, pressure cookers, and all kinds of kitchen utensils piled up high. It’s a bit of a maze inside, and you have to be careful not to knock anything over with your elbows. I’ve been running this store for a long time, and I’ve seen generations of families come in to buy sets for their new homes or as wedding gifts. The street outside is always bustling with people and vendors, especially on the weekends. I usually sit on a small wooden chair near the front so I can greet everyone who walks in. We don't use fancy barcodes or computers; I mostly know the prices by heart or I look at the small stickers we put on the bottom of the bowls. Sometimes a customer wants to bargain a little, and we talk back and forth while I wrap their items in old newspaper. It’s a very traditional kind of shop. The shelves are a bit old and the lighting isn't the brightest, but it works for us. I like the smell of new metal and the way the sun reflects off the brass items in the morning. It’s just a regular local shop for regular people.
