Down here in Manimajra at SCF-276, Kissan Battery Co has been the main thing on my mind for years. The shop floor is usually covered in those heavy plastic casings and there’s always a faint smell of metal and acid in the air. It’s a working shop, not a showroom, so things are a bit cluttered with stacks of batteries waiting to be moved. I spend my mornings checking the stock and talking to the delivery guys who struggle with the heavy loads. The area around PCNTDA is always moving with people trying to get their vehicles sorted. My hands are usually a bit dirty by lunch time from moving things around. We have a small bench in the back where I sit when there’s a gap in the day. The light isn't the best in the far corners but we know where everything is kept. Manimajra gets really congested in the evenings so I try to get the big jobs finished before the traffic peaks. It's a lot of physical work and my back feels it some days, but that's just how the business is. Most of our neighbors are doing similar mechanical or hardware work so we all know each other. We don't have any flashy signs or anything like that, just the name on the front and a lot of heavy inventory inside. It stays busy enough to keep us on our feet from morning until the shutters go down at night and we can finally head home.
