Our factory is at number 62 in the Industrial Area Phase I. It’s a large space because making hinges takes up more room than you might think. We have the stamping machines and the polishing units all set up in a row. It’s loud and it’s usually quite oily on the floor, but that’s the nature of making hardware. We’ve been in Phase I for a long time and have seen the industrial area grow up around us. We make all sorts of hinges for doors and cabinets. Most of the day is spent watching the machines to make sure they aren't jamming. We have a small office at the front where we keep the books and take orders. It’s mostly just us and the workers from the local neighborhood. We don't have any flashy brochures or a big sales team. The hinges we make are simple and they work, and that’s what matters to our customers. We usually start the machines early in the morning before it gets too hot. By the afternoon, the crates are full and ready to be shipped out. We like being in this part of the city because everything we need is close by. It’s a basic operation, but we take pride in the fact that we’ve stayed in business this long without any fuss. The rhythm of the machines is something we have just grown used to over time. We keep the main door open for the breeze to come in.
