Sasyakaashi Farmers Producer Companylimited is run out of Ravikumar’s place in Bilikere. We are under the care of Venkataramanegowda there. It’s a very local setup, right in the heart of the village area. We don't have a big corporate office with glass walls. It’s more of a traditional space where people feel comfortable sitting down for a long talk. Bilikere is a place where everyone knows everyone, so news travels fast. We spend our time coordinating with the local farmers on what to plant and when to harvest. There’s a lot of talk about the rain and the soil quality over cups of tea. We have some basic equipment and a lot of registers to keep track of everything. It's a bit messy sometimes, especially when it’s peak season and everyone is bringing in their records at once. We don't have any slogans or big mission statements. We just try to make sure the farmers get a fair shake. Working from Ravikumar’s spot makes it easy for the neighbors to just drop by whenever they have a question. It’s a practical, no-nonsense kind of place. We handle the seeds and the fertilizers and all the small details that the bigger companies don't bother with. It’s hard work and the days can be long, but we’ve got a good rhythm going here. It’s just us doing our part for the village.
