If you drive down the Belakavadi-T Narsipura main road, you will find us near the Saraguru hand post. We are right in B G Pura Hobli. This group, B G Pura Ragi Farmers Producer Company Limited, started because ragi is what we know best. It is the main thing growing in our fields around here, and it’s what feeds our families too. We spend a lot of time talking about the rain and when to sow the seeds. The office is just a simple place where we keep our records and meet up. It is not very big, but it serves our purpose well enough. Sometimes the traffic on the main road is loud, but we are used to it by now. We handle a lot of the sorting and moving of the grain ourselves. It is physical work, and our hands are usually rough and stained from it. We aren't trying to be some big corporate entity; we are just neighbors working together. When the harvest comes, everyone is busy from morning until late at night. We share what we have, whether it is a tractor or just some extra help in the field. The weather hasn't always been kind lately, so we have to be careful with how we manage things. We just want to make sure the ragi gets sold and everyone gets their fair share of the money. It is a slow process sometimes, dealing with all the steps from the soil to the market, but we are stuck with it and we make it work.
