Umech Engineering Pvt. Ltd. is tucked away at L-13, Gali No. 9, in the New Rohtak Road Industrial Area. If you know Anand Parbat, you know it’s a maze of narrow streets and workshops. Our spot is right in the middle of all that activity. There is always the sound of metal hitting metal or the buzz of a welding machine nearby. The street is usually lined with parked tempos and scrap metal. Our workshop isn't very large, but we pack a lot into it. We have lathes, drills, and benches where we work on engineering parts. It gets quite hot and noisy during the day, so we usually have a few big fans running to keep the air moving. Most of us have been working with our hands for years, so the smell of oil and iron is just normal. We don't have a reception area; if you walk in, you’re basically standing right where the work happens. We take on all sorts of engineering jobs that people bring to us. It’s a tough area to work in because of the congestion, but it’s where all the making happens. We stay busy with various orders, and there is rarely a quiet moment. We just focus on getting the pieces right. It’s honest work in a busy part of town. The tea stall on the corner is where we end up most evenings.
