Sajjad Husain Ansari

Number 142 at Tis Hazari is where I spend most of my time these days. It is a very busy area, with people constantly rushing around carrying legal files and looking stressed or in a big hurry. My office space here is quite basic. I have got my main desk, some old chairs for visitors to sit on, and piles of paperwork stacked up in the corners. It can get fairly loud outside with the shouting and the constant traffic, but inside we just try to focus on the task at hand. I have been around this neighborhood long enough to know exactly where to find a good cup of tea when the afternoon starts to feel long. The walls could definitely use a new coat of paint, but nobody really seems to notice that when they are here to discuss their business. Some days are incredibly slow, and I just sit and watch the ceiling fan spin around, while other days are so packed I don't even get to eat lunch until it is nearly dark. This isn't a big corporate setup with glass walls or modern furniture. It is just a room where the actual work gets done. People come in, we talk about what they need, and I see what can be finished for them. I like the steady routine of it, even if some days are more difficult than others. That is just what life is like at Tis Hazari for me and the people who come by.
