About Rajdhani Sweet – Food & Beverages in Central Delhi
If you find yourself near Tel Mandi Park in Paharganj, you might see our shop at 4/98. Rajdhani Sweet has been part of this neighborhood for a while. We get started while it’s still dark outside, heating up the large vats of oil and boiling the milk for the sweets. The shop gets very warm because of the stoves, so we keep the doors wide open even in the winter. We have a display case at the front where we put out the fresh batches of samosas, jalebis, and other sweets every morning. The glass usually gets a bit foggy from the heat. Paharganj is a very busy place with lots of travelers and local workers, so we see all kinds of people throughout the day. Some people just stop for a quick chai while they are passing through to the park. We have a couple of small tables, but they are usually full of people eating. The floor is tiled and we have to wash it down several times a day because things get sticky very easily. We don't use any fancy machines to make our food; most of it is done by hand with big metal ladles and heavy pots. By the time evening comes, we are usually running low on the most popular items. We aren't a big chain, just a local sweet shop trying to keep up with the daily crowd in a very busy part of town.
