Mishra Ji

Mishra Ji is situated in the middle of the famous Gaffar Market in Karol Bagh, at shop number 201. Being in Gaffar means you’re always in the thick of things. It’s one of the busiest markets in Delhi, and our little spot is no different. We have people coming in and out all day long. Some are regulars who have been coming to see us for years, while others are just passing through. The shop is small and usually smells like tea and old paper. We have a couple of chairs for people to sit on while they wait, but they are usually occupied. There’s no fancy air conditioning here, just a ceiling fan that works hard during the summer months. We handle a lot of different things, and my desk is always covered in notes and little scraps of paper. It’s a bit overwhelming sometimes, especially on weekends when the market is packed. We try to keep up with everyone, but it gets difficult when five people are talking at once. We’ve been part of this market for a long time, and we’ve seen it change quite a bit. But at the end of the day, it’s still the same old Gaffar Market. We close up late, usually when the street lights are already on and the crowds start to thin out. It’s a long day, but it’s our life here.
