About Munna Lal Halwai – Food & Beverages in Central Delhi
We are located at Delhi Gate, specifically Katara Sujan Ray 300. It’s an old part of the city. My father used to handle things, and now we take care of it. The shop isn't huge. We make the sweets in the back. There’s always steam and the smell of sugar in the air. We don't have a website or anything like that. People just walk in from the street. During festivals, it gets really crazy. We barely have time to sleep then. We just keep frying and packing boxes. The rest of the year is more normal. We have a few benches if people want to sit, but most take their stuff home. We don't use fancy packaging. Just the plain boxes we’ve always used. The floor gets a bit sticky sometimes, but we mop it when we can. It’s a family thing. We grew up around these big iron pans. We don't know much else besides making sweets. The neighborhood knows Munna Lal. We don't need to put up big signs. Even the rickshaw pullers know where we are. It’s just a regular life here. We wake up, start the fire, and see who comes by. It’s dusty outside with all the traffic near Delhi Gate, but inside it’s just the same as it was twenty years ago. We don't plan on changing anything because this works for us. That's the whole story of our shop. We are just here doing the work.
