Arjun Malik Photography is based out of Lajpat Nagar. If you’ve ever been to the market here, you know how hectic it can be. We are tucked away from the main noise but you can still hear the rickshaws and people shouting outside. The studio is filled with tripods, lights, and bags that we never seem to fully unpack. It’s a bit of a mess sometimes, especially after a long shoot. We spend hours sitting in front of monitors editing till our eyes hurt. Lajpat Nagar is great because we can grab a quick snack from the street vendors whenever we get a break. The walls are covered in some old prints and test shots. Sometimes the power goes out and we just sit around talking until it comes back on. It’s a small operation. Most of the time it’s just me and maybe an assistant or two trying to figure out the best way to frame a shot. We use a lot of tape to hold things together. The camera gear is the only thing we really keep clean. Everything else has a bit of dust on it. It’s a real working space, not a showroom. We like it here because everything we need is just a short walk away, even if the traffic is a nightmare most of the time. We just keep clicking and moving on to the next one.
