Our office is in Jhilmil Colony, House Number 89, up on the third floor of Block A. Jhilmil is a residential area in East Delhi, so it feels very much like a home that happens to have a lot of office equipment in it. The stairs are a bit narrow, and carrying new printers up was a real challenge last month. Inside, we have set up several desks and a small area for storing files. The light comes in through a couple of windows that look out over the colony rooftops. It’s mostly quiet during the day, except for the occasional vegetable seller passing by outside. We don’t have a big corporate lobby or anyone to greet you at the door; you usually just hear us working before you see us. We all take turns making sure there is fresh water in the dispenser. The decor is pretty basic—just white walls and standard office chairs that we’ve had for a few years. It’s a comfortable enough place to spend eight or nine hours a day. We like being in a colony because it feels less clinical than a business park. We know the people who live downstairs and the aunties who walk in the park nearby. It’s just a normal, everyday work environment where we handle our tech business and try to keep things running without any unnecessary drama or high-level corporate talk. It is just a plain office in a regular Delhi neighborhood.
