Street No. 8 in the Anand Parbat Industrial Area is never really quiet. It’s a lot of metal hitting metal and the smell of oil. Our place at 25/8 is right in the middle of it all. If you’re coming down New Rohtak Road, you know how the traffic gets, especially in the afternoons. Inside Dhawan Engineers, it’s mostly just work. We have these big machines that take up most of the floor space, so you have to watch your step. There’s a small office area tucked in the corner where the paperwork piles up, but most of us are usually out on the floor. It gets pretty hot in the summer, even with the fans going full blast. We’ve got a couple of guys who have been here since the start, and they know the quirks of every machine we own. It’s not the kind of place where you’d wear a suit. Most of us have grease under our fingernails by lunch. We eat together usually, someone brings something from home and we just sit where there’s space. It’s a bit messy, and the lighting could be better, but things get done properly. We don’t spend much time on fancy meetings or big presentations. We just look at the drawings, get the material ready, and start the day. That’s just the way it works here on Street No. 8 in the industrial heart of the city.
