You’ll find Brar Beej Stores at 3657 Chawri Bazar. If you know Chawri Bazar, you know how crowded it gets. It’s all narrow lanes and people carrying heavy loads on their backs. Our shop is right in the middle of all that. We deal with seeds, so the whole place smells like earth and dried plants. We have bags of seeds stacked up high. Sometimes a bit of grain spills on the floor and we have to sweep it up. It’s an old building with high ceilings and thick walls. We’ve been here for generations, I think. My father worked here before me. We don't have any computers on the main counter. We use a simple calculator and a bill book. People come from all over to get their supplies from us. We talk about the rains and the crops more than anything else. It’s a noisy place with the sounds of the market coming in from the street, but we don't mind. We sit on wooden benches and wait for the customers. We don't do any advertising. People just know we are here at 3657. We keep things honest and we don't overcomplicate it.
