A One Saloon

Setting up Shop No. 104 in Grunanak Market was a lot of work back then. We are very close to the Karol Bagh Metro Station, so there is always a crowd passing by. People are always in a hurry in this part of Delhi. We get a lot of office workers who want a quick shave before they head to the station. The shop is narrow, so we have to be careful not to bump into each other when all the chairs are full. We have got these posters of different hairstyles on the wall, but honestly, most people just ask for the same thing every time. The air conditioner works okay, but when it is really hot outside, it struggles a bit. We keep the spray bottles filled with cold water. Sometimes the noise from the market is so loud we have to shout a bit to be heard. We go through a lot of neck strips and shaving cream in a week. It is a busy spot. We do not have much time for sitting around. By the time evening comes, my back usually hurts a bit from standing, but that is just how it goes. We close up when the market starts to quiet down. It is a good spot to be, right in the middle of everything. Nothing fancy, just a place to get a haircut and maybe a head massage if we are not too backed up.
