Being out here in Guru Nanak Colony keeps us pretty close to the main action in Bundi. We are right near Ambedkar Circle, so there is always someone walking by or a tractor rumbling past the front. This part of the Bundi district is known for stone, and we are right in the middle of it. Our days start early because the sun gets hot fast in Rajasthan. We spend a lot of time checking the stock we get from the local quarries. The stone comes in big loads and we have to sort through it all. It’s not a clean job. There’s always grit in your shoes and dust on the desk. We’ve got a small space near the circle where we keep the records. Most of our neighbors are also in some kind of trade, so it feels like a working colony. Sometimes we sit outside when the breeze picks up, watching the traffic go around Ambedkar Circle. It's a simple life. We don't have fancy brochures or a big team. It’s just us handling the stone and making sure it goes where it's supposed to. Taluka Bundi is our home and we’ve been at this spot for a good while now. If the trucks are on time, the day goes smooth. If not, we just wait and have another tea. There is a lot of waiting in this business sometimes, especially when the quarry is behind schedule. We just sit on the plastic chairs out front and talk about the weather.
