Acc Holcim

Pradeep Soni lives and works over at the Acc colony in Lakheri. His place is Qr. No. NTRT-18, right near Moorthy Park. If you walk past the park in the evening, you’ll see kids playing and folks sitting on the benches. It’s a quiet corner of the Bundi district here in Rajasthan. The post office is right in Lakheri, pin 323603. We go by Acc Holcim, but for most of us, it’s just the place where we’ve spent years working. Pradeep has been here for a while, staying in the company quarters. It’s a simple setup. You have your house, your neighbors who all work at the same place, and the plant just a short distance away. The life here is very much tied to the factory cycles. When the whistle goes off, you know what time it is. Rajasthan summers are no joke, so everyone tries to stay indoors during the afternoons near the park. It’s not a fancy lifestyle or a high-tech hub. It’s just a group of people making cement and living their lives in a small town. Sometimes the power goes out or the water is a bit slow, but we manage. We aren’t trying to impress anyone with big words. We just handle the daily stuff and keep the house in order at NTRT-18. It’s home for Pradeep and a workplace for the rest of us. Most people here have known each other for years, so it feels like a big family.
