Chirasrota Farmers Producer Company Limited is located in Jadabandh, Biswanathpur. We use Jhasketan Behera’s place as our main gathering point. Out here, farming is the heartbeat of everything we do. We started this group because we were tired of struggling on our own to find good seeds or get a fair price for what we grew. It’s a humble setup, but it’s ours. The people involved are all local farmers who have lived in Jadabandh for generations. We know every acre of this land. Some days the sun is too hot and the work feels endless, but having the company gives us a bit of a safety net. We try to help each other out with equipment and knowledge. If someone has a problem with their crop, we talk it over and see what can be done. It’s very much a community thing. We don’t have a website or a big marketing plan. We just rely on word of mouth and the quality of what we produce. Our meetings are informal and usually involve a lot of tea and talk about the weather. We are just trying to make a living and keep the traditions of farming alive in Biswanathpur. It’s honest work, and we take it one day at a time, looking after our land and each other as best as we can. There’s always more to learn about the soil.
