Out here in Bahuakuri, we have set up Sootea Multipurpose Agri Producer Company Limited. Jayanta Saikia is the one who handles a lot of the coordination at his spot. We have a lot of different things going on because agriculture here isn't just one thing. We handle various crops and try to help the local farmers get what they need. The area around 784189 is full of people who have worked the land their whole lives. It’s not a big corporate operation. We are just local folks. Some days we are dealing with fertilizers, and other days we are trying to find a truck to move the produce. It gets a bit chaotic sometimes. We don't have a polished way of doing things, but we get the job done. The goal was just to make sure we don't get left behind. Working as a producer company lets us buy things in bulk which saves us a bit of cash. Every rupee counts when you’re farming. We spend a lot of time talking under the trees or in the small office area. It’s mostly about helping each other out. If a neighbor’s crop is struggling, we see what we can do. We are learning as we go. It’s a lot of trial and error, but that’s how you learn. We’re just glad to be working for ourselves and our families in this village.
