Shri Sai Fly Ash Bricks

Our work happens out in the open near the Nav Shakti Sai Mandir in Lat Kunj. You can usually find us at Jarahat Bhata by looking for the tall stacks of grey bricks drying in the sun. Shri Sai Fly Ash Bricks is a busy spot, especially when the weather is dry and we can really get the production moving. Fly ash is messy stuff, and by the end of the day, it is in your hair and under your fingernails, but it makes a sturdy brick. We are right there in the Lat Kunj area, so we hear the temple bells throughout the day, which is a nice break from the noise of the machinery. The guys working the molds have a rhythm down that they don't even have to think about anymore. We don’t have much of an office, just a small shed where we keep the records and hide when the sun gets too hot. People from the nearby construction sites often stop by to see how many pallets are ready for pickup. It’s hard work, mostly manual labor under the sky, and we are usually tired by the time the sun goes down. There isn't anything fancy about making bricks; you just mix the materials, shape them, and let the air do its job. We just keep our heads down, keep the mixer going, and watch the piles grow. Some days the machines act up, but we fix them and keep on.
