Om Brick

Om Brick is based in Village At Post Mungeli, which is part of the Tehsil Lormi area. We are quite close to the railway station, so we hear the trains passing by throughout the day. It’s a familiar sound that marks the time for us. Working here in Mungeli is a bit different than being in a big town. We have more space, but the work is still just as hard. We spend our time managing the kiln and looking after the clay we have. Every batch of bricks takes a lot of effort, from the first mix to the final stacking. We don’t use any fancy technology; it’s mostly just the same methods people have used for years. Our yard is usually busy with local workers who come to help with the heavy lifting. We see a lot of people from the surrounding villages who are building small shops or fixing up their homes. They know they can find us by the station and that we’ll have a fresh batch ready. It’s a very hands-on kind of job, and we usually end the day with dirt under our fingernails and tired backs. We don’t mind it, though, because it’s satisfying to see a truck pull away with a full load. We keep things simple and just focus on the day-to-day tasks that need doing at the brickyard.
