R. K. Bricks

Our yard is right across from the Basant Vihar Gate on Seepat Road. You can't really miss it because of the smoke from the chimney when we're firing a new batch of bricks. It’s a busy area and we have people coming in and out all day asking for prices or checking if the next load is cool enough to take yet. We spend most of our time out in the yard, checking the molds and making sure the clay is mixed properly with the water. It gets very hot, especially during the middle of the summer, but that's just part of the job we do. We don't really do much advertising because people see us right there on the main road and stop their cars. Sometimes the traffic is a bit of a headache when the big trucks are trying to back in, but we always manage to get it sorted. We aren't fancy people with suits and ties. We just know how to handle the mud and the fire to get a decent brick out of the kiln. There’s always something to do, whether it’s cleaning up the site or helping someone load a cart. We've been at this spot for a good bit of time now. The neighbors know us and we know most of them by name. It's a simple setup we've got here, nothing more than what's needed. We just keep our heads down and work hard.
