Nawagarh Hasdeo Mahila Krishak Producer Company Limited

Our group, Nawagarh Hasdeo Mahila Krishak Producer Company Limited, is run by the women farmers around Pacheda. We set things up at Tulsi Ram Kashyap’s house, number 195, right here in Nawagarh. It’s been a good way for us to manage our farm work together in the Janjgir-Champa district. We spend most of our time out in the fields, but this is where we meet to figure things out. It’s not a fancy office or anything, just a home base for our collective. Being in a rural part of Chhattisgarh, we focus on what we know, which is farming and looking after the land. There’s a lot to do every day, from planting to harvest. We aren't looking to be some big corporation. We just want to make sure our work as women farmers is handled properly. Sometimes we sit out on the porch and discuss the prices or the rain. It’s a very local thing. Everyone knows everyone else in the village. Having the company name helps us when we deal with markets or getting supplies. It’s practical and it works for us. We don't use a lot of big words to describe what we do. We just grow crops and try to help each other out in the community. It’s hard work, but doing it together makes it a bit easier.
