Beltara Mahila Farmer Producer Company Limited is based out of Lakhram. We are located at Pardeshi Kewat’s place in the Beltara area, not too far from Ratanpur. This is a local effort by the women in our village to get our farming work organized. We’ve lived in Bilaspur all our lives, and farming is what we know. The company is just a way for us to pool our resources and work as a group. It’s much better than trying to do everything alone. We meet up at the house to talk about seeds, fertilizers, and where we’re going to sell our produce. It’s very informal, just neighbors talking over tea. The work is physical and depends a lot on the seasons. Sometimes the rain is late and we have to adjust. Other times, the harvest is good and everyone is busy. We don't have a big marketing team or anything like that. We just do the work and handle the business side of things from our village. Being in Chhattisgarh, agriculture is just part of who we are. We use this company to make sure we get a fair shake. It’s simple, grassroots stuff. If you come to Lakhram, you’ll see us out in the fields or gathered at the house. We aren't trying to change the world, just trying to take care of our families and our farms.
