Our little operation is based in Village Tepra, which is part of the Namhol area in Sadar Tehsil. Hill Agri Farmers Producer Company Limited is really just a group of us who live and work in these hills. Tekchand’s house is our main point of contact, but you will usually find us out in the fields rather than sitting at a desk. We grow whatever the season allows, and around here, that can be a bit of a gamble with the rain. Being a farmer in Himachal means you are always watching the sky. We started this company because it felt like the right time to start working together instead of everyone just doing their own thing. It’s better to share tools and information about what is growing well and what isn’t. We aren't trying to be anything we aren't. We are just rural people trying to make a living from the land. Sometimes the crops are great, and sometimes the weather ruins everything, but that is just how it goes. We talk to each other about the prices of seeds and how to keep the pests away without breaking the bank. There is a lot of local knowledge passed down from our grandparents that we still use every day. It is a practical way of life, and this company is just a tool to help us stay organized and hopefully make things a little more stable for the families in Tepra.
