Gondawana Agro Farmer Producer Company Limited is based at the house of Jeewanti Minj in Thakurpur. This is in the Ambikapur area of Surguja district. We are basically a group of farmers who decided to pool our resources together. Working out of a residence means we do not have a typical storefront, but everyone in Thakurpur knows where we are. Surguja is a beautiful place, but farming here takes a lot of effort and patience. We get together to talk about our crops and how we can help each other out with the harvest. It is a very local operation and most of us have known each other for years. Jeewanti’s place is where we keep our records and hold our small meetings when we need to decide on something. It is not a flashy setup, just some chairs and a lot of talk about soil and rain. We do not have a marketing department or anything like that because we are too busy out in the fields most of the time. The goal is just to keep our farming community going in Ambikapur. Sometimes it is stressful when the markets change or the crops do not grow as well as we hoped, but having the company helps us stay a bit more stable. We just take things one day at a time and try to do right by the land and our families.
